You’ll disclose your medical background
During the first part of the medical assessment, you’ll be asked to fill in some forms and to declare any pre-existing conditions. You’ll then have the opportunity to talk about any historical surgeries you’ve had, and any other areas of your health that may affect your ability to do your job.
You’ll have your vital statistics taken
We all know things like blood pressure, height and weight can be an indicator of our health, which is why this forms part of your cabin crew medical. You may also have your lung function checked, your ears and eyes examined, and an ecg of your heart.
When you complete your medical
Upon successful completion of your medical, you’ll be given a fit to fly certificate that can then be given to your employer. This will remain valid until your next one is due, which is within five years. If you have medical events during this time, you may be required to have further medical checks.
What to take to your appointment
If you’ve been sent any background medical forms prior to your appointment, be sure to bring them along on the day. You’ll also need a list of any current medication, along with your glasses or contact lenses, as well as your prescription.
